Vision
GAHRA will be the progressive leader and
resource for the housing industry in the State of Georgia.
Mission
GAHRA is the resource to provide services
to its membership and to assist in the development and management of
diversified housing in the State of Georgia.
Goals
- To provide opportunities for education and training
for its membership

About Us
The Georgia Association of Housing and
Redevelopment Authorities (GAHRA) is 189 housing authorities strong. Our
members provide affordable housing for approximately 250,000 of
Georgia’s low-income residents; of which more than one-fourth are
elderly and handicapped. The GAHRA membership administers and manages
more than 100,000 dwelling units ranging from single bedroom apartment
to five-bedroom houses. Some member agencies in smaller communities may
manage less than 20 dwelling units while larger agencies may assist
their communities with 20,000 affordable housing units.
For more than 60 years, GAHRA member agencies have provided a number of
services related to housing issues for Georgia’s low-income citizens,
including job training, homeownership assistance, drug abuse counseling,
protective services, childcare, educational assistance, youth services
and transportation assistance.
A leader in the field of training and education for its membership,
GAHRA provides over 1,500 individual training opportunities for its
members each year. Over 3,000 Georgia citizens are employed by GAHRA
agencies.
Individual GAHRA members hold prominent positions at the
regional and national level. These include
committees with the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment
Officials (NAHRO), and its subsidiary, the Southeastern Regional Council
(SERC). A GAHRA member served as president of the Public Housing
Authorities Directors Association (PHADA) for the term 2003-2005.
